House of Representatives candidate on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in Ogun State, at the just concluded general elections, Omoleye Olabode, was recently attacked at his campaign office in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.INDEPENDENT reliably gathered that Olabode, who recently decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the presidential election, was attacked while returning from a political meeting in the early hours of Friday.
Speaking to INDEPENDENT, an eyewitness who pleaded for anonymity, confirmed that the armed men came to Olabode’s campaign premises at about 12:15 am on the fateful day by scaling the fence.
They then beat up all the aides they met on the premises before shooting at their target and leaving.The victim was later rushed to an unknown hospital where he is presently receiving treatment.
The eyewitness further explained that the armed men were masked and left through the gate around 12:30 am.In a telephone conversation with Naija Times, Olabode said the matter had been reported at Adigbe Police station.
While calling on Nigeria Police to ensure that the perpetrators of the dastardly act were arrested and brought to book, Olabode said he did not believe that the attack was politically motivated because he has no issue with anybody.
Olabode, who contested for House of Representatives in Abeokuta North/Obafemi Owode and Odeda Federal Constituency during the last general elections on the platform of ADC defected from the party to the APC few days to the governorship election.
